Time to Act on Victorian Accessible Housing Regulations
Article Date: Monday, 1 February 2010

A Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) has been prepared to examine approaches to increase the supply of accessible housing in Victoria. Submissions are now being sought on the content of the RIS which proposes a variation to the Building Code of Australia. Action for Community Living is a member of the Victorian Univeral Housing Alliance and is encouraging people interested in improving access to housing to make a submission to the consultation process that has just been announced by the government.
Anyone interested in contributing to this process should contact Cath McNamara on 03 94892999.
To assist with submissions, and FAQ sheet has been developed. Submissions from organisations of people with disability as well as individual experiences and views are needed to strengthen government commitment to introduce better building regulations.
The following site also has more details about completing a submission.
