Code of Conduct
Within the work context Action for Community Living employees, volunteers, facilitators, consultants and student placements are expected to demonstrate respect for self, other people within and connected to Action for Community Living and for the organisation as a whole.
This means that in the course of their work with Action for Community Living they will strive to:
Ø behave honestly and with integrity.
Ø use good judgment and be accountable for their actions
Ø maintain the confidentiality of all client, staff and organisation
information to which they have access.
Ø avoid apparent and actual conflict of interest. Any conflict of interest is
to be declared on the Conflict of Interest register
In relation to others staff/volunteers are expected to:
Ø treat everyone with respect and courtesy
Ø promote acceptance and respect for diversity
Ø respect other’s individual privacy
Ø listen to and respect other’s viewpoints and recognise other’s right to
disagree and be heard
Ø be forgiving and strive to have positive working relationships with all
colleagues.
We accept that leadership within Action for Community Living is a shared responsibility. We will therefore strive to:
Ø be loyal to each other and the organisation.
Ø take collective responsibility for decisions
Ø share information with each other regularly
Ø work on the resolution of issues and follow-up appropriately
Ø accept constructive feedback, suggestions or inquiries about our work
Ø honour and support each other’s roles, contributions, and needs
Ø recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes.
At all times we will maintain a sense of humour to help keep things in perspective.
